What are the BSCI Certification Code of Conduct?

oneBSCI certificationIt is a universal monitoring system for European society to comply with social responsibility, consisting of retail companies and associations, importers, and production companies. Its goal is to continuously improve the social responsibility performance of its members in production and supply facilities around the world. The BSCI monitoring system is not intended to replace other established confirmation systems for multiple external stakeholders.

twoBSCI certificationMembers believe that they need to take responsibility for all global activities in their own name. They feel particularly responsible for providing good working conditions for the employees who produce their products. BSCI members also believe that this responsibility should extend to all employees of BSCI members who produce products, whether directly employed by BSCI members or by third-party subcontractors and suppliers.

In order to create production conditions that have a certain impact and promote social acceptance, BSCI certified members have formulated this code of conduct. GlobalBSCI certificationAll suppliers of members are also obligated to comply with this code of conduct.

BSCI certificationMembers should implement the code of conduct with a spirit of active cooperation. They are willing to fully comply with this code while maintaining all existing business relationships. BSCI plans to raise awareness of this issue in the near future and achieve continuous and sustainable improvements in the coming years. Improvements in compliance with social responsibility will enable suppliers to meet current and future market demands as well as legal requirements. Over time, suppliers' performance in social responsibility can be systematically improved and resistance crises can be avoided. BSCI's position is that only by maintaining and improving basic living standards can the economy sustain development and society progress.

4. The Code of Conduct only sets minimum standards and should not be understood as the highest standards. It should not be detrimental to employees in any way, such as restricting their freedom of association or collective bargaining rights.
